Filter by the pet you are bringing, then tick anything you want a rough total for. Anything beyond this gets an itemized treatment plan before we start, because a senior cat with three problems is not the same visit as a healthy puppy.

Exams
A wellness exam catches problems early and sets a baseline. An illness visit gets a concern looked at promptly. Exotic exams are priced separately because they take longer and need a different skill set.
Exotic fees vary by species. For more complex cases additional fees may apply, so call us and ask.
Rabies vaccination
Rabies vaccination is required by law for dogs and cats in Illinois. Keeping it current protects your pet, your family, and everyone else's.
A doctor exam is required by state law before a pet can receive a rabies vaccination. Rabies tag cost not included. For cats we use specific vaccines chosen to reduce the incidence of vaccine associated sarcomas, a rare but possible side effect of lesser quality vaccines.
Wellness testing, dogs
Bloodwork is a window into internal health before symptoms show. Each of these is a bundle of tests, not a single one.
Wellness testing, cats
The feline panels lean harder on heart and thyroid screening, because that is where cats tend to hide disease.
Internal parasite screening
Intestinal parasites are common in pets and some of them pass to people. Regular testing keeps the whole household healthier.

Tick anything in the list to see what a visit adds up to at our published prices.
This adds up published prices. It is not a quote and it does not know your pet. You get a real itemized treatment plan before we do anything beyond the exam, and we stop and ask before adding to it.
These are our published rates as of 2026 and they can change. For a treatment plan specific to your pet, email us at hospital@urbanpetvet.net and attach any previous records: it lets us put together a more accurate plan. If you would rather talk it through, call us on (630) 541-8088.

If the number is more than you expected
Say so. It is a normal conversation here, not an awkward one. We will walk you through what is medically urgent now, what can safely wait, and whether a staged plan gets your pet most of the benefit within what you can spend. Nobody gets a lecture.

Will I know the cost before you treat my pet?
Yes. You get an itemized treatment plan before we proceed with anything beyond the exam. If the plan changes partway through, we stop and talk to you first rather than adding to the bill and explaining afterwards.Do you take CareCredit?
We do. CareCredit (opens in a new window) is a healthcare credit line that lets you spread treatment costs over time, and it is widely used for veterinary care. You can apply before your visit so the decision is already made when you arrive.Do you offer payment plans?
Yes, more than one. Cherry (opens in a new window) runs no hard credit check, takes about a minute to apply for, and has zero percent options depending on what you qualify for. Scratchpay (opens in a new window) lets you check your options without affecting your credit score, and the All Pet Card (opens in a new window) is a credit line built specifically for veterinary bills. CareCredit (opens in a new window) works here too. You can also talk to us at the front desk and we will go through the options honestly, including what is medically urgent now and what can safely wait. Why is there an exam fee?
The exam is the veterinarian's time, judgment, and the physical assessment that everything else depends on. Diagnosing correctly before treating is what stops you paying twice. Why do exotic pets cost more to see?
An exotic appointment is longer and needs a veterinarian trained specifically in that species. The published exotic exam prices reflect that, and fees vary further by species, so call us if you want a figure before you come in.Are you more or less expensive than a corporate chain?
We are an independent, family owned practice, so we are not competing to be the least expensive option in town. What our clients consistently mention in reviews is cost transparency: knowing what they are paying for and why, with no surprise line items.Do you take pet insurance?
Most pet insurance works by reimbursement, so you pay at the visit and your insurer pays you back. We will give you the itemized invoice and records your provider needs to process the claim. What if I genuinely cannot afford the recommended treatment?
Tell us. It is a far more common conversation than people expect, and it is not a judgment. We will lay out what is urgent, what can wait, and whether a staged approach or a different option gets your pet most of the benefit within your budget.Does a surgical quote cover everything?
Every surgery is quoted the same way: you get an itemized treatment plan at the consult, before anything is scheduled. It covers the arc of care rather than just the procedure: the diagnostics that confirm it, pre surgical bloodwork, anesthesia and monitoring, the surgery itself, medications to go home with, and the initial follow up recheck. If the plan changes partway through, we stop and talk to you first.
Book, and we will talk costs openly.
