Right off the bat, Dr. Jess saved my Frenchies life! Ok now the story. As my frenchie Gus was growing, he started breathing heavier, throwing up after eating or getting excited and couldn't walk more than a block when gasping for air. After investigating the symptoms it was determined that he had what's called "Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome" BOAS. unfortunately, it is a condition that frenchies bulldogs, pugs, and any dogs with a smashed in face may get. My gus is almost 3 y.o.a. meaning he is fully grown which was a prerequisite for the BOAS surgery. Next move I, went to my vet to get info on the procedure and get it done. He stated that they do not perform that surgery because it's too complicated. What? Next move is I, call around to vets near my location and got the same answer, no one will perform the procedure. Next I search BOAS surgery near me. I find this Urban veterinary associates in Westmont and make the appointment. Everyone was welcoming, pleasant and explained the process and costs. I found the place! I take him in, they successfully complete the procedure and he has minor complications afterwards. They order him back in, took care of him and after 2 rough weeks (because the surgery is a rough one) he is breathing better than before I took him in. Here are some before and after pics of what you can see of his nose being opened to take in more air. There are other things that they did that you can read about when researching BOAS. Thank you for having the courage to provide this service (unlike all the other vets i called) and adding years to my buddies life. BTW I, switched all my pets to this location.
Brought our new puppy for her first vet visit and the experience was incredible. The staff was incredibly warm and welcoming. The vet team was patient, gentle and thorough. They showered our sweet pup with adoration and kindness. The doctor took the time to answer our questions about nutrition, booster schedules and training without us feeling rushed. We are grateful to have found our forever vet. Highly recommend!
The doctors and staff at Urban Veterinary Association are truly leaps and bounds above other facilities. Their level of care, attention, and professionalism is unmatched. I had the opportunity to work with Dr. Nowak and Dr. Rumpf, and both clearly CARE... not just about their pet patients, but about the owners as well. My cat had an issue that other clinics couldn’t figure out, but this team took the time, applied their expertise, and got to the bottom of it. I’m incredibly grateful for their dedication and highly recommend them to anyone seeking exceptional veterinary care. Special thanks to Karen, Katrina, and Ashley.
I’ve had a great experience with this vet. The staff and veterinarian are all incredibly kind and welcoming, which makes every visit feel comfortable and stress-free. She is very thorough during exams and takes the time to address all of my concerns without making me feel rushed. I also really appreciate that pricing is always discussed upfront before any procedures are done, so there are no surprises. I will definitely continue bringing my pet here and highly recommend them to others. Update: after coming back for a couple of nurses follow up visits I do feel like the wait for this place is pretty long I’m usually not seen until about 20 minutes after my scheduled time.
Highly recommend. This clinic feels very family oriented, as in it’s more about your pet than draining the clients wallet. The doctor took her time with us, was wonderful with our ferrets and upfront about cost. The receptionists were warm and friendly. Our overall experience was excellent.
